Project Summary
Our team developed and implemented an IEC 61850-based automated generator control scheme to ensure the automatic supply of essential site loads with standby power during utility outages. The scope of work included:
- Developed and implemented an IEC 61850 automated generator control scheme to automatically supply essential site loads with standby power during utility power outages.
- Developed and applied the necessary protection and automation logic for the GE-C90 automation controller.
- Developed and applied the necessary IEC 61850 communication settings for the GE-C90 and GE-F35 feeder protection relays.
- Configured all Cisco network switches to allow for IEC 61850 GOOSE messaging.
- Confirmed transmission and reception of all IEC 61850 GOOSE messages.
- Performed a detailed load analysis of the aggregate site load with the hoist running at various speeds to determine the residual standby capacity for additional site loads and the magnitude of the hoist regeneration.
