North American Palladium – Lac des Iles Mine Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis

Project Summary

Our Team performed a detailed Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis in accordance with IEEE 1584-2018 and CSA Z462-18. The scope of work included:

• Performed an Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis in accordance with IEEE 1584-2018 and CSA Z462-18 utilizing ETAP electrical power system analysis software.
• Performed a site wide electrical system audit to gather the required information to develop a detailed impedance model of the system from the 115kV voltage level through to the 600V distribution.
• Provided a detailed report including the incident energy levels at all system buses with recommendations to reduce the incident energy level in areas which exceeded 12.0 cal/cm2 (typical arc thermal performance value of arc-rated work wear).
• Provided and applied arc flash warning labels on all equipment included in the assessment including information on incident energy, arc flash protection boundaries, working distances, voltage level, etc.
