Hornepayne Power Inc. – Generator Performance Validation and PRC-024 Protection Compliance

Project Summary
Our team performed detailed testing and analysis of a steam turbine generator's governor response and protection systems to evaluate performance and ensure compliance with NERC PRC-024 requirements. This work supported the verification of generator frequency and voltage ride-through capabilities in alignment with regulatory standards. The scope of work included:
- Performed governor performance and validation testing to verify 4% Droop Control of the steam powered generator.
- Performed online governor step response testing to demonstrate the generator can achieve a sustained 9% change of the applicable rated active power after 10 seconds in response to a step change of 0.5% during interconnected operation.
- Performed performance and validation testing to verify the generators regulation deadband is not wider than ±0.06%
- Performed a review of the generator and facility voltage and frequency protection to verify compliance with NERC PRC-024.
- Provided recommended generator and facility voltage and frequency protection to ensure compliance with NERC PRC-024.
