Goldcorp Inc. – Red Lake Gold Mine – Balmer CTS Capacitor Bank Project

Project Summary

Our team provided complete commissioning and start-up services for three (3) 46 kV, 7.1 MVAR capacitor banks. This included protection and control integration, relay and RTU programming, and coordination with IESO for telemetry validation. The scope of work included:

• Provided commissioning and start‐up services for three (3) 46kV, 7.1MVAR capacitor banks.
• Performed testing and commissioning on three (3) 44kV SF6 circuit breakers.
• Performed point to point verification of all the DC control circuitry and AC instrument transformer secondary circuits.
• Programmed and commissioned three (3) GE‐C60 capacitor bank relays.
• Assisted in the control and operating philosophy design for the three (3) capacitor banks.
• Programmed and commissioned the D20 RTU with the analog and digital points required by the IESO.
• Provided testing and verification of all the IESO telemetry points including final end‐end testing with the IESO control room.
• Updated the SCADA system with the new capacitor bank digital and analog points.
